King Tut Coffin with King Tut Inside
Wall Plaques and Table Sculptures - Several Sizes Available! $26.95-Up
When the burial chamber of King Tut was opened, his mummy was found in a coffin made of 3mm thick, solid gold. It was nested inside two larger wooden coffins that were covered in gold and ornamented with precious stones and glass. Our scaled-down reproduction depicts the middle wooden coffin, but with Tut's mummy inside. Our miniature of the mummy includes all the lavish detail of the original--including the legendary gold funerary mask. Great choice for a fascinating conversation piece!
INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORIGINAL MIDDLE COFFIN: Tutankhamun's three coffins were placed inside a rectangular quartzite sarcophagus with a red granite lid. The middle coffin depicted in our reproduction was constructed of wood overlaid with thick gold foil. It was shaped as a mummiform Osiris figure, arms crossed on the chest and holding the sacred insignias of royal authority, the crook and flail. The royal symbols, Uraeus and Vulture, were attached to the striped nemes headdress, and under the chin, the divine beard was inlaid with blue glass imitating lapis lazuli. The breast was covered with a wide collar richly adorned with precious stones. On the wrists, wide bracelets were inlaid with jewels. The two protective goddesses of Upper and Lower Egypt, Nekhbet the vulture and Wadjet the Cobra with a bird’s body, embrace the King’s torso. The entire surface of the body was decorated in rishi (feathered) pattern. The feathers are each inlaid with jasper-red, lapis-blue and turquoise glass.
