Aztec Feathered Serpent Wall Sculpture
The Feathered Serpent appeared prominently in the religions and mythology of tribes throughout Mesoamerica, beginning with the Olmecs, between 1400 B.C. and 400 B.C. The people of Teotihuacan also included the Feathered Serpent among their deities.  Their  Temple of the Feathered Serpent is covered with some of the earliest-known images of  Feathered Serpents,  which are the basis for our reproduction.
