Selket is one of the four goddess statues found in Tutanhkamun's tomb, guarding the golden shrine containing  the four canopic  jars which held the royal viscera of the boy king.  The originals are between two and three feet tall.  Our scaled down reproduction, at 13.75" tall, faithfully echos the grace and beauty  of the original!

Based on an original in the tomb of Nakht (an astronomer of the God Amun during the reign of Amenhotep III around 1450 B.C.), this charming scene exemplifies the pleasure and enjoyment the ancient Egyptians derived from music.  Many, many musical instruments have been found in their tombs.  The flute and harp were the primary instruments -- shown in this wall scene, along with a norva, an instrument
similar to modern-day banjos, that was made from a turtle shell.
