HISTORY: The name Gabriel means 'God Is My Strength'. He is the Messenger of God, the Angel of the Annunciation and the Resurrection, ruler of the Cherabim, said to sit at the left hand of the throne of God. Muhammed claimed the Koran was dictated to him by Gabriel. Jewish legend says it was Gabriel who dealt death and destruction to Sodom and Gomorrah.
